Kids say the darndest things...

I went through our facebook pages and compiled a list of all the funny things our kids have said that we made note of over the last year. I'm sure there's MUCH more, but I don't remember them all...

While carving pumpkins this year, I said something undoubtedly hilarious, to which Brooklyn just rolled her eyes. I said, "Ya know, one day, you're going to think I'm cool. Maybe not soon, but one day." To which she replied, "I seriously doubt it." She got a few laughs...

Chloe wakes me up telling me that she cut her hair. I asked why, she said she was trying to color and it was in her way. So she cut about 7-8 inches off each side :(  It was a very sad day for me.

Today Chloe asked me a question, and I nodded. Then she looked at me and said, "Mommy, use your words."

On the way home from a Chukars game, Chloe sang "Who let the dogs out? Woof. Woof. Who let the cats out? Meow. Meow".

Chloe: "yeah! Can I get a tattoo?"
She must be mine.

(from Rob)
While the kids were playing in their room, I overheard my son say "You can use your baby as a weapon". I'm not sure if I should be concerned.

Learning to write

Lately, Chloe has been really interested in learning to write her name, and everyone else's. I think she's doing an amazing job for her age! She wrote this one all by herself and then came and showed me!

Show off day

Chloe had her first Show off day for gymnastics. It was so cute to see all the little kids tumbling around. She absolutely LOVES gymnastics! I'm glad we got her into it. They started first with their floor routines. Then we split up into classes and they showed off their skills on the balance beam, the bar, and the trampoline. Then at the end they all got to stand up on the podium and do their champion pose and get a certificate!

Snowflakes

My mom mentioned to me that Brooklyn had asked if she would teach her to make paper snowflakes because she saw some in a window. We ended up not having time and my parents had to leave before we got to make them. Later that evening, we all sat down in the living room and made snowflakes together. Hailey was content sitting in her highchair and watching. The kids had so much fun and made some really good ones! We hung them up in the living room window and on our front door.

Thanksgiving

My parents and Randy, Danielle, and Addy were able to come to our house for Thanksgiving this year. Chad and Tasha went to Minnesota to spend it with her family, and Larry and Lisa were in Tennessee. We skyped with Lisa a little bit that morning. Addy and Chloe spent almost the whole 3 days playing dress up. We didn't really have dress up clothes, so they just went through the closet finding any dress of Chloe's or Brooklyn's that they could wear. They had a blast together. On Friday morning, Rob, Danielle, Mom, and I went out shopping. It was the easiest Black Friday shopping I've ever experienced! We didn't wait more than 10 minutes anywhere we went. It was very smooth. After we got home, the boys went out to blow some stuff up. They blew up a water heater and a piece of it hit Ben in the forehead. He ended up with 7 stitches and a great story. Luckily, no one else was hurt.

Hailey's haircut

This was Hailey's 2nd haircut. Her bangs were getting so long they were always in her eyes. It ended up a little shorter than I had planned, but they grow fast.

Voting

We walked across the street to vote for the President and Chloe insisted that she get our stickers.

Halloween

Lisa and Rob's parents were all in town for Halloween this year. On Monday, Emily and I took Hailey and Chloe to Trick-or-Treat Street down at Snake River Landing. On Wednesday, we all went across the street to our neighborhood Trunk-or-Treat. Chloe was a peacock, Hailey was a Lalaloopsy doll, Tyson was a rock star, and Brooklyn was Wonder Woman. I used some face paint and sequins to make a mask for myself.

Family Pictures 2012

My sister-in-law, Tasha, took family pictures for us this year. It was super cold, started to rain part way through, and because of the clouds, started getting dark earlier than we hoped. Even with all of that working against us, she got some great pictures! I was very impressed and happy with how everything turned out! Now, on to the pictures....click to enlarge...

3rd Annual Pumpkin Carving!

After family pictures, Chad and Tasha came to our house for our 3rd annual pumpkin carving. It was fun as always! The first pumpkin is Brooklyn's, she carved he own pumpkin this year and did a great job!

The next is Tyson's. He carved some by himself, and then Rob ended up finishing it.

This is Chloe's pumpkin. It's Bubble Puppy from one of her favorite shows, Bubble Guppies. I carved this one.

A few days later, Lisa came to town before her and Larry moved to Tennessee. The night before Halloween, we still had one pumpkin that needed carved, so we decided to buy two more and carve pumpkins again. The only ones left at Walmart were these white pumpkins. They were kind of cool. They were more like a melon than a gourd. They smelled fruity and were softer. Which was kind of nice because it was easier to cut through, but made it hard when you got into detailed spots, because the pumpkin would break.
This is Lisa's pumpkin. The Joker.

This is mine.

And this is Rob's. He said he wanted to do something easy. It took him like 10 minutes to carve the whole thing. It was super quick.

Gymnastics

We told Chloe that if she would start using the potty all the time and stop having accidents, she could start gymnastics after her birthday. She only wears pull-ups at night now, so I'll count that as a potty training success. Ever since we watched the Olympics this summer, she's talked about doing gymnastics. So the week after her 3rd birthday, she got to start!

Chloe's 3rd Birthday

I can't believe Chloe is 3 already! Time has really flown by. We had a birthday party for her to invite her friends. They played Pin the Bow on Minnie Mouse and dropped clothespins in a jar. We had a bunch of balloons that I had planned to make into flowers, but didn't end up having time, so they were all on the living room floor. I think all of the kids had the most fun with that! They kicked them, ran through them, threw them around, it was great entertainment. We had Minnie Mouse cupcakes made with Oreos. Chloe also got a Minnie Mouse toy from Grandma Astle that went great with the whole theme of her party.

Because my mom is in harvest over Chloe's birthday, we had a family party on Sunday so they could come celebrate. My parents, and Chad & Tasha came over for dinner and a little party. Chloe got a bunch of puzzles from them that have kept her very busy.

The haircut

We were all napping one afternoon when Chloe came and woke me up and told me that she cut her hair. I rushed to the kitchen to see how bad it was. It was bad. I started crying and she immediately started apologizing. I asked her why she did it and she said that she was trying to color and her hair was getting in her way. She cut about 7-8 inches on each side of her head. We were going to my parent's house the next day, so I had my mom try to even it out a little. It was sooo short. Hailey got her first haircut while we were there too. She just needed her bangs trimmed a little.
